How to Measure GEO: From Brand Mentions to Qualified Enquiries

GEO cannot be measured by one model response or one ranking. Use five layers—visibility, accuracy, evidence, visits and pipeline—to improve responsibly.

GEO should not be reduced to “did one AI recommend us?” Generated answers change by model, region, language, time and phrasing. What can be managed is a brand’s presence across important questions, the accuracy of that presence, the supporting evidence and whether it contributes to valuable visits and conversations.

Layer 1: question coverage

Build a set of 20 to 30 questions connected to revenue. Include brand, service, scenario, comparison and decision queries. Record language, region, device, platform and test date. Without a fixed set, month-to-month comparison is not meaningful.

Layer 2: visibility and position

Record whether the brand appears, where it appears, whether it is included in a shortlist and which competitors are present. One appearance is not stable share. The useful signal is appearance rate and direction over time.

Layer 3: factual accuracy

A mention is not automatically positive. Check company name, service scope, market, cases and contact facts. Flag unsupported services or old descriptions. For each error, form a source hypothesis—official site, third-party material, outdated content or model freshness—before deciding how to correct it.

Layer 4: evidence and citable assets

Track pages that answer a question independently, clear organisation information, case evidence, third-party mentions and structured-data coverage. The objective is not link volume. It is truthful, mutually corroborating and verifiable information.

Layer 5: visits and pipeline

Use Search Console, analytics and CRM to observe impressions, clicks, service-page visits, contact actions, qualified conversations and downstream deals. AI mentions, search clicks and sales may be separated by time, so do not force causality. Strengthen the evidence through source fields, paths and sales feedback.

A monthly review

Document changes in the fixed question set, recurring errors, new or outdated evidence, content and technical updates, and relevant search and contact signals. WEPR uses this as a GEO baseline, not as a promise that a platform will rank a brand first.
